De Rosa Fire Department – April 21, 1975

After we moved to Citrus County in 1967 dad developed De Rosa Village off County Road 495 in Crystal River. He saw the need for fire protection in his northwest corner of the county. In 1973, he organized the DE ROSA PLAZA VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY, INC. He donated land for the firehouse. DE ROSA PLAZA VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY, INC was incorporated on 04/21/1975 He was fire chief for two years and a volunteer for over a decade. He was a county fire commissioner for seven years. After which his son Vinnie De Rosa went on to become the Fire Chief.
